I love this take. I’ve seen people saying they wish they could get a refund on all of the Ami Cole products they bought, and I’m like, are y’all are ok??? I don’t trust/believe people who are hypercritical about everyone but themselves. No one is perfect.

that’s insane? 😭

Those comments were ridiculous

Great piece! Where are these people making the comments working? At non profits? Who is running the companies they work for and how do they vote? Like at the end of the day we have bills to pay.

questions that need answers lolol

Thank you for acknowledging the nuisance of her appointment. People were tearing her apart!

I think it's very very obvious that this play was essentially about stability and money. And it's hard out here, so good (no, GREAT) for Diarrha!

But I truly do think that Kim and 'em DO care about black women and that at least some of Diarrha's appeal or fit for the brand was around her ability to build an audience to a specific consumer that is veryyyy valuable in the beauty space. Otherwise, why would Kim be trying again for the 50 'leventh time to launch a beauty brand

with some added context and perspective, im actually inclined to agree more on the second part of your comment! i think more of the possibility that there could be a part of the Ami Cole playbook that they are looking to tap (which I don’t love 😂).

Kim is great at being a celebrity. Nothing more, nothing less. I agree with your take. Black people always fall for the honey trap and they don’t realize how that feeds into the narrative every single time. I’m money hungry like you… so I understand business I hope she walks away filthy rich that’s all.

i love how much we have money hungriness in common

This read like a letter. It was so good. I wished you ended it with

"Regards,

Slutty Founder"

HAHA next time

In the Emma interview she mentioned going through a divorce, her accepting this role is securing herself and her babies a solid future as a current single mom.

Nice catch. That’s another thing I always wonder… like what if some of these people are going through some real personal shit and need the money? After all we are all human!

Now this is a take I can support! Especially when you mentioned that the selective outrage should be more throughly thought out.

SLUTTY FOUNDER's avatar

that's my thing

love this take ! I understand the frustration, but can we not celebrate her wins after her major loss ? The people asking for refunds from Ami Cole need to TOUCH GRASS

Such a well said take! I,too, can’t wait to continue watching her journey unfold.

Oh brother, the "community" can be relentless sometimes!

This next move for Diarrha provides her a soft place to land, after shutting down her company for now until she figures out what she wants her next move to be in the future.

SLUTTY FOUNDER's avatar

we really can be relentless!

Thank you! My goodness when I saw people complaining I was like ……… OKAYYYYY. This take was great!

Saw the announcement the other day and ran here for your take tbh. Great nuanced read on the situation, ty for getting it up so quick!! Do I LOVE the move? Nah ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ But let’s be for real, it’s pretty lose-lose out here rn, and I’m hoping she gets paid and does whatever the fuck she wants after this role. And so *mysterious* why Diarrha gets immediate and vocal rebuke but nobody’s been pulling the same chastising commentary on someone like Jonathan Anderson for aligning w. Arnault cough cough

SLUTTY FOUNDER's avatar

appreciate you for acknowledging the work it took to put this together under such time crunchy circumstances 😭.

totally agree that it was lose-lose in so many ways. also the last line on J Anderson... the girls have to catch up to their own outrage
