Playing Fair is a Losing Game for Loser B*tches
That Cecred video, some news, a reading list + a guiding life principle
Slutty Founder is a weekly-ish newsletter from the girl you want to meet in the bathroom (for business advice).
“Nothing but the truth!” (Paid Subscriber)
I missed you guys! I feel like the feeds have been a little boring this past couple of weeks, no? The best approach for SF has become if I don’t have anything to say, to say nothing at all! When I have something to say I feel it so viscerally. That’s why I think this week’s newsletter is such a good one.
Let’s get into it.
NEWS
The now 4.5M+ view loc takedown video to tone down some of the Target pushback is SENDING ME. I will say camp Carter does distraction skillfully, although I was surprised to see much of my timeline considering it cringe. Not that it wasn’t, but that more people seem to be growing comfortable saying the quiet thing out loud when it comes to this couple. What is it about celebrity that rings so unamusing these days? I can’t believe I wanted to be one once, and kind of still do.

I already thought we went backwards with the resurgence of the Espresso Martini (which I love!) but this is just a no. I can feel the burn of a UTI just thinking about it.
Lemme is partnering with Solidcore for the launch of creatine gummies.
Carson Griffith’s viral IRL event last week should tell us a lot about where Substack is headed. I’ve been watching with much intrigue how rapidly her Rich People Shit newsletter has caught on. I love this.

A week later and Emily Ratajkowski’s Cut essay still has a lot of panties in a twist.
MONEY
Sleep or Die has raised $1.5M, with some of their checks written from their readers here on Substack. They are launching a second sleep strip soon and I will be keeping an eye. We can’t deny that Lauren Sudeyko’s traction so far has been very impressive. Very few founders have figured out how to leverage Substack in a way that doesn’t come across cheesy or cringe.
I don’t think I’ve ever given a proper congrats to the 4AM girls on their $4M raise. Watching Jade Beguelin and Sabrina Sadeghian has been fun and I am happy for them. IDK why they feel like my nieces in my head. They keep me young, I just feel!
Fenty Beauty may have a buyer in Jay-z’s MarcyPen Capital Partners. If you recall, LVMH was looking to offload their 50% share.
WHAT I READ THIS WEEKEND
James, Percival Everett (deserves every bit of Pulitzer praise and the Spielberg adaptation it is getting). A hilarious continuation from Huckleberry Finn told from the perspective of Jim, a runaway slave, that I literally could not put down. Did we ever consider that many slaves code switched? Many thoughts there!
The Stalker, Paula Bomer
PLAYING FAIR IS A LOSING GAME FOR LOSER B*TCHES
Those girls with the moms who told them that they were better than everyone growing up had the right idea.
I was not brought up in this way. My mother and her mother—God bless them—are very kind, very fair people. I wasn’t always made to feel like some of my girlhood peers were beneath me even when I needed to hear it most. I yelled at my mom once for gifting a now ex-friend a giant candle—much larger than one she’d ever give me because she is very stingy about her good candles. “You’re supposed to give ME the bigger one and make her feel like shit. THAT’S called being a mother.” I was really schooling her! “I know she gives off that vibe that she doesn’t have a good mom, but that has nothing to do with you! You’re MY mom!” I was at the time 30.
“You know I can’t do that, that’s not right” my mom said with a little laugh.
“Who even cares! You’re SUPPOSED to treat me better, hello!”
